About RAW

OUR MISSION

Reno Art Works (RAW) is a 501c Non-Profit Organization devoted to providing affordable professional workspace, gallery, and classroom space to visual artists of all mediums and styles.

OUR STORY

We operate one facility in the downtown Reno area close to the ‘mid-town’ core. Our studio is just outside on what is becoming Reno’s emerging art culture district; Dickerson Road.

RAW Studio provides a very affordable artist workspace on a square foot basis to suit each artist’s needs. Artists have 24/7 access to the building with amenities including utilities, trash, common area lounge/kitchenette, and WiFi internet access. Each workspace is also a gallery where artists may display their work for sale. There is a great diversity of subject, technique, medium and pricing within the community of artists. The culture of our building is to nurture artists whatever direction their art takes them. We have artists that span the full spectrum from aspirant to professional artists, from those who wish to be only makers to artists who eventually wish to make their living from it.

The residents have the option of joining quarterly group shows in the gallery space or can have a one-person show as often as space permits. Artists are also welcome to have exhibitions in their workspace as often as they like.

Studio 2035 is also is a learning facility with a classroom of adequate space for between 10 to 16 students. Several of our artists are educators teaching a variety of mediums using traditional techniques and methods to students from beginners to advanced/master classes.

VISUAL ARTS RESIDENCIES

Residencies are granted to emerging and established visual artists whose work must be relatively clean with minimal dust or aerosol contaminates such as solvents. Residents must make use of the studio a minimum of 8 hours per month. Work-spaces are not storage space and must be kept reasonably clean as per renter’s agreement. Residents are encouraged to display their artworks in their space whether for sale or not. Residents work in collective and some semi-private studio spaces.

Our Space

Our workspaces are rented on a monthly basis with no long-term commitment. Only first and last month’s rent/cleaning deposit are required upon signing the rental agreement. Single, double and even triple spaces are offered. As Studio 2035 has great amenities and a vibrant creative atmosphere, our residents do not leave us very often. However, resident artists can move within the building when spaces open up. Open spaces are offered to our current residents first, then to new applicants.
