ERIN BURRESS
My name is Erin Burress and I am a self-taught artist who started painting acrylics for fun in 2004. I have since expanded to mediums such as watercolor, mixed media, and sculptural wood pieces.
My aesthetic naturally navigates toward a more modern, geometric form.
I am affectionately known around my studio as the “dot lady” because of the way I utilizes drops of paint to produce a kaleidoscope of shape and tone. This approach creates deep impasto effects with the paint. I like to think of my work with acrylics as Modern Pointillism.
I am fascinated by color and I love to utilize a robust color palette in my work; even in traditionally muted mediums like watercolor. Playing with patterns, texture, and negative space are some of my favorite aspects of my work.
Currently a resident artist at Reno Art Works, I love the outdoors and the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains which have inspired a number of my most recent works.
