DAVID McCAMANT

McCamant began his personal work during his long successful career as a commercial artist, illustrator, art director, creative director, animator, animation producer, and director. David was trained through mentors most of his life including master painter, Brian Davis in 2004. As David was already an accomplished acrylic painter, Davis led him to mastership. Then Brian introduced David to the incomparable David A. Leffel, a modern Rembrandt David’s mentor for chiaroscuro direct oil painting technique which he uses and teaches to this day. His work has received thirty-seven professional awards. His paintings can be found in the Renown Health permanent collection and private collections in the US, Europe, and Asia.

David paints his sky and landscape works as illuminated impressions of his subjects. He is intrigued by the relationship of the quality of light and the objects observed. Both a student of light and instructor of composition, David guides his students in the ancient application of Dynamic Symmetry to infuse their work with the powerful dynamics of the natural world. Always pushing himself forward, David is driven to maintain the abstract nature of painting while still communicating the true sense of place and time.
